YOUR TOUR GUIDE IN FLORENCE

eleonora tonon guida turistica

I am a qualified tour guide, tour leader, and travel designer based in Florence, Tuscany, with a passion for art and garden history.

I was born in Veneto region in 1987 and I moved to Tuscany in 2013.

I have been studying and working in tourism since 2001: after a graduation degree in “Planning and Management of Cultural Tourism” at the University of Padua, I have been working since 2011 as a tour leader in Italy and abroad.

My passion for foreign languages, art history, garden history and travelling the world has taken me to Florence, where I became a tour guide in 2016. I love to combine my skills and knowledge about tourism with art and garden history in order to design the perfect holiday for my travellers.

I was a student on the exchange programm „Erasmus“ in Madrid; I did an internship at the Guggenheim Collection of Venice, I attended a few study-holidays in La Ciotat, Saint Petersburg, and Kyoto. I have a true, passionate love for foreign languages, travels, books, gardens, and art history.

I’m curious, restless, enthusiastic: always suffering to know, to study, to see in an everlasting, eternal passion of life.

It doesn’t matter which kind of cultural knowledge you’re carrying on: the most important point is to transmit passion, give emotions and dreams.

After all, Claude Monet used to say: “Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love“.

YOUR GARDEN TOUR GUIDE IN AND AROUND FLORENCE

In 2013 I moved to Mugello. The lovely Tuscan countryside with the green geometry of the vineyards, the rolling hills dotted with olive trees, the verdant sequence of the cypresses was for me a surprise at every turn!

In 2015 I worked as a
tour leader for the „Association Acanthe“ (Franche-Comté) in a guided tour to the Naples and Amalfi Coast’s gardens.

During this new experience, I appreciated so much the relaxed, cosy and blissful atmosphere of the
garden guided tour, a slower kind of tourism imbued with nature. Taking a stroll through the gardens is a gift: it offers memorable views in a sensory feast and gives you a sense of deep wellness and happiness!
That’s the reason why I started study on my own garden history and then I attended a few garden history courses, such as “English Landscape Gardens” at Oxford University and  “The Medici gardens” at The Garden Historians

Since 2021, I have been working as a tour guide for the „
Firenze Greenway“ cultural association as part of the “Estate Fiorentina” 2021 project and as a tour leader for the Aeres University of Applied Sciences – Wageningen (Netherlands).

In 2021-2023 I studied for the diploma of “Garden History” at the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh. The two-year diploma allowed me to delve into the history of British and Italian gardens, Victorian horticulture, the historical aspects of gardening in Great Britain, and the legislation and conservation of historic gardens in Europe. During these two years I also undertook many study trips to British and Italian gardens

Since 2022, I have been regularly working as a tour guide and a tour leader on tailor-made tours to the gardens of Tuscany, Lazio and Veneto for the French garden clubs “Union des Parcs et Jardins de Normandie” and “Association des Parcs et Jardins de Paris et Ouest Parisien“.
